Mobile craps: casinos and apps

Searching for “download craps for real money” takes a player to an app store, and from there into a dead end or a simulator. Here is why it works that way and what to do instead.

“A real-money app” — what you actually get

There are exactly three routes, and they deliver fundamentally different things — the table above ranks them by availability and by whether real money is even possible. One of them is dangerous.

App or browser

On Android and iOS both routes usually lead to the same interface. Full casino apps are absent from the official stores for most players, as noted above — but plenty of offshore operators offer a direct download from their own site, more often for Android.

The exception worth knowing: in regulated markets — the UK under the UKGC, and US states such as New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan — licensed operators do publish genuine real-money apps in both stores. If you are in one of those, the store route is available and legitimate.

Free apps and simulators: an honest assessment

A simulator is not practice. It is useful in exactly one way: remembering where things sit on the layout and getting used to the order of operations.

For working on a strategy it is entirely unsuitable. At a casino, the random number generator undergoes mandatory certification at GLI, eCOGRA or iTech Labs — independent laboratories run the game thousands of times and check how the results distribute. In a free app, nobody checks the roll statistics at all.

Phone settings that break a session

Half of all complaints about a “buggy mobile casino” are not the casino. They are handset settings designed to save battery and data, not to sustain a continuous video stream and a live round that runs to the studio’s schedule.

An incoming call deserves its own line. On some devices it unloads the tab entirely and the table has to be reopened. Placed bets are unaffected — they settle themselves — but you will be watching the round after the fact.

How to choose a mobile craps casino

• Both screen orientations. The table should work correctly in portrait and landscape, with a simplified control arrangement.
• A choice of tables. RNG and live dealer both, so you do not have to change site when your mood changes.
• The whole layout on screen. No horizontal scrolling, and sections large enough that a fingertip does not miss.
• Speed. Fast RNG table loading and a stable video stream in live, including on mobile data.
• Payments that work from a handset. Check this before depositing: typing long account details on a phone is its own ordeal.
